Chino runs in Four Corners in Flagstaff

The Chino Valley cross country team traveled to Flagstaff to compete in the Four Corners Invitational on Saturday. McKenzie Nez led the Cougars with a 37th place finish with a time of 17:47, and Uriel Saldana placed 103rd with a time of 19:20.

Other finishers for the Cougars were Daniel Shepherd (120th-19:54), Scott Blakley (140th-21:12), David Gehman (147th-21:54), and Brenden Tupper (153rd-23:14). The boys' team placed 20th out of 22 schools with 514 points.

The girls were led by Rosio Aguiar, who placed 80th with a time of 22:58 and McKeisha Nez, who placed 82nd with a time of 23:00. Hannah Sanders placed 111th with a time of 24:23. Other finishers for the Cougars were Mariah Leckliter (138th-27:36), Alaina Rowitsch (141st-29:12), and Christina Ballard (142nd-29:12).

The girls' team was without its No. 1 runner, Cheyanne Penton, who was nursing an injury. She's expected back for the Bell-Jeff Invitational in Los Angeles this Saturday.
