Vincent Imperia

Vincent Imperia, 93, of Humboldt, Ariz., departed this life on April 5, 2014. Vince was born May 2, 1921, in Anagni, Italy.

At the age of 26, he immigrated to New York with his mother Maria and younger brother Magno, to join his father, Aurelio, who had immigrated earlier.

Vince served in the Italian Army in World War II, spending three years as a German prisoner of war.

Vince was a tradesman, learning every skill he could, becoming an excellent mason. He worked at the family business, Imperia Bros. in Pelham, New York prior to starting his own successful landscaping company, V. Imperia, Inc. in 1949. He took pride in excellent workmanship. One of his customer's homes in Westchester, N.Y. featured Vince's landscaping in the local paper. He was always glad to help anyone he could lend a hand to.

Vince relocated with his family to Scottsdale, Ariz. in 1974, where he semi-retired, still doing some small landscaping jobs and building homes. He and his wife moved to Humboldt in 2004.

Everything Vince did was out of love for his family. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Agnes; sons Vincent (Patti) of Tempe, Anthony (Dee) of Dewey; and daughter Mary of New River; five grandchildren, Vincent Patrick, Kevin (Tammy), David (Bethany), Sarah (Alex) and Cody; two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Kelsey; his brother Magno (Lena) in Oregon; and nephew Lou (Linda) in New Hampshire.

Vince was a simple, private man who worked hard every day to provide a better life for his family, who misses him dearly. Vince's final wish was granted at the end of his journey, where he was at home, surrounded by loved ones.
