Helen L. Wright

Helen L. Wright died on Sept. 16, 2014. She was born on Jan. 11, 1945, in Norwood, Mass., to the late Leo J. and Virginia (Crockett) Landers. The family moved to Arizona in 1948. In 1964 Helen married Wayne A. Wright Jr. His career took them to duty stations in Yuma, Dateland, Black Canyon City, Phoenix and then to Prescott in 1979. Helen retired in 2001 from a career in bank and human resources management. She was actively involved in her community. She was a past president of Prescott Frontier Rotary, a member of the board of directors of Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters, as well as a school mentor for YBBBS, a precinct committee-person for the GOP, a member of the core group for Prescott Area Human Resources Association, and a past secretary for the Downtown Prescott Association. Helen was also a volunteer for Prescott People who Care and Prescott Center for the Arts, and she was on the financial council of Sacred Heart Parish. During their retirement, Helen and Wayne traveled to six continents, and she enjoyed traveling on the back of his motorcycle all over the USA and Canada.

She is survived by her husband Wayne, son Christopher Wright of Seattle, and daughters Sarah (Ross) Jacobs of Prescott and Susan (Drew) Kenny of Huntington Beach. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Nicholas Wright, Rachel and Cade Jacobs, Hayden and Carter Kenny, her brothers John and William Landers and their families. She was predeceased by her sister Ann Gronek and her brother Paul Landers.

A gathering of friends will be Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, from 6 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 24, 2014, at Sacred Heart Church.
