Win boosts Prescott volleyball to 9-2

On Tuesday, Prescott got past Youngker in four games, 30-28, 25-11, 24-26, 25-22, to improve its record to 9-2 overall.

Libero Grace Hendricks guided the Badgers defensively with 34 digs. Setter Erinn Marroquin notched 17 assists, eight digs and a service ace.

Sydney Koehler (12 kills, 12 digs, ace), Abbey Smith (seven digs, three aces) and Raphael Temple (12 kills, 17 assists) all played key roles.

This past Saturday, the Badgers won the Ceil Billings Memorial Tournament at Greenway High in Phoenix.

They defeated Moon Valley, Apollo, Scottsdale Christian, Maricopa and Greenway before blanking O'Connor, 2-0 (6-0 in sets), in the finals for the championship trophy.

Temple garnered tournament MVP honors after compiling a total of 49 kills, 58 assists and 15 service aces in the six matches. Koehler was named to the all-tournament team as well. She had 23 kills, nine aces and 14 digs.

Aiding in the effort were Veronica Norkus, who ripped 24 kills and recorded 15 blocks, and Marroquin, who had a team-best 78 assists to go along with 16 aces.

Prescott hosts D-3 Thunderbird at 6 tonight in the Dome gym.
