One unbeaten Division 6 team was going home with a loss Friday night. It sure wasn't the defending state champions.
The Bagdad Sultans, in their 2014 home opener, crushed the Mayer Wildcats 58-6 in an all-Yavapai County matchup in 8-man ball.
As they were last year when they ran the table to the school's first football title since 1952, the Sultans look unbeatable. Now 4-0, Bagdad has won 14 straight games going back to last year and 17 out of 18 since 2012.
The Sultans get a rare bye week next Friday. Mayer (2-1) looks to rebound at home against Ash Fork, which beat Phoenix School for the Deaf 38-6 on Friday.
