CORDES LAKES

• A Youth Group dance is scheduled for Sept. 6. To join, call Tom at 928-853-1973.

• Community Calendar Meeting is 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Cordes Lakes Community Center.  People in the 69 Corridor are invited to get together and pick dates for area fundraisers so they don't conflict with other events. Any churches, nonprofits, or interested parties are welcome.

• Cordes Lakes Days is Sept. 20. There will be a walk-a-thon (call Cathy King at 602-909-9339), parade, vendor booths, food, games, raffles and more. The event is at Henry Cordes Park, with plenty of shade under the ramada. Norm Kozak is in charge of the raffles for Cordes Lakes Days. Call him at 928-775-4223 for tickets for the Scratch Raffle. Eight chances per ticket.

• American Legion's next meeting is Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. in the conference building at the Cordes Junction Motel, 19780 Hitching Post Way.

MAYER

• Anyone interested a once-a-month Bunco game night at the Mayer Community Center can call 928-632-7511 to state day and time preferences.

Mayer Unified School District is offering free Child Find screenings for children ages 3 through 5 today, Sept. 3. Appointment times will be scheduled for 1, 1:45, or 2:30 p.m. Screenings will be at Mayer Elementary School. Check-in is at the front office. Call Madonna at 928-642-1008 to schedule your child's appointment.

• Highway 69 Chamber Of Commerce general membership meeting is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Mayer High School. Open to the public.

SPRING VALLEY

• Spring Valley Propety Owners Association general meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9. Come at 6 p.m. for the potluck before the meeting.

ARCOSANTI

• Walter Parks and Swamp Cabbage return to Arcosanti on Sunday, Sept. 13, to provide American Roots music - southern rock, blues, soul, Dixieland jazz and Appalachian. Tour Arcosanti at 5 p.m., dinner is at 6, and Swamp Cabbage performs at 7:30 p.m. Ticket price of $30 includes tour, dinner and performance. Call Arcosanti at 928-632-7135 or visit arcosanti.org.

WEEKLY EVENTS

• Exercise class is 8:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Cordes Lakes Community Center.

• The Cordes Lakes Planning Committee meets 9 a.m. Tuesdays at 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. Meetings are open to everyone to present ideas for fundraisers, improvements and more.

Bingo is 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive.

• Big Bug Charity Quilters meet every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center, 10051 Miami, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Beading is Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m.

• TOPS has moved to the Cordes Lakes Community Bible Church (on the hill) at 20049 East Club Lane. Hours remain the same, with 8:45 a.m. for weigh-in and 9 a.m. for meeting on Fridays.

MONTHLY EVENTS

• Storytime at the Cordes Lakes Public Library, 15989 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, is the first Friday of the Month at 3 p.m. Miss Ruth will read a story geared to preschoolers.

• Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club meets 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at various members' homes. Contact Jack 928-632-4277 for more information.

• American Legion meetings will resume Sept. 19 (third Friday) at 1 p.m. at its new location, the Conference Building at the Cordes Junction Motel at 19780 Hitching Post Way. As you enter the property, the building is directly in front of you.

• Mayer Fire has its open board meetings 6 p.m. on the third Monday of the month at the main location on Highway 69.

• New Life holds Bible study classes on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. This is open to all and starts at 6:30 p.m.
