'Chalk it UP!' promoters seek volunteers
The West Yavapai Guidance Clinic Foundation will take Chalk It UP! Prescott forward in our community. One of Prescott's most enjoyable, free events will take place on April 18 and 19, 2015. Once again, adults and children of all ages will be given chalk to create their own colorful street art in the parking lot of the National Bank of Arizona parking lot on Montezuma and Sheldon Streets.
"The West Yavapai Guidance Clinic Foundation is proud to keep this much-loved event going," stated Tina Blake, Development Coordinator for the Foundation. "The original intent of Chalk It Up! Prescott was to provide a unique arts adventure for people of all ages, as well as to enrich the creative expression in children and enhance their personal development. These goals are also a reflection of the Clinic, which recognizes that art can promote the healing process of those who experience mental health and/or substance abuse issues."
Planning for Chalk It Up! Prescott continues in September, and the Foundation is seeking volunteers from the community to help with many aspects of the event, including planning, sponsorship and event logistics.
The first meeting of the planning committee will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Prescott Public Library. Future meetings will occur at least monthly. If you're interested in volunteering or just learning more about what volunteering might involve, please attend this meeting or contact Tina Blake at firstname.lastname@example.org or 583-6411, ext. 3634, www.prescottchalkart.com.
