Marines Birthday Ball, entertainment will be Nov. 9
November 10 will mark the 239th anniversary of the Continental Congress' decree that "two Battalions of Marines be raised." All Marines and freedom loving individuals who share their values are urged to reserve now to attend the Birthday Ball taking place at the Prescott Resort, in the Goldwater Room, to commemorate this event on Nov. 9.
The Copper State Detachment of the Marine Corps League is hosting the "Prescott formal" (jacket and tie or bola for men) party, which will include traditional ceremonies of Posting the Colors by the Young Marines, the cutting of the Birthday Cake with a Mameluke sword by a Marine Officer in full dress uniform, recognition of the oldest and youngest Marines present, a tribute to our MIA's/POW's and a "Toast to the Corps," according to a news release.
After dinner, which is a choice of four entrees, the Guest of Honor, Marshall Trimble, a Marine and Arizona State Historian, will speak. His messages are both informative and entertaining. A great combination.
Dinner music and music for dancing will be provided by the popular and versatile group, KASH. Door prizes, a Silent Auction and the drawings for both the Detachment's and the Young Marines' 2014 Raffles will be conducted. Reservation information is available at 777-0660.
