Bagdad man pleads guilty to child sex charges
PRESCOTT - A man accused of sexual conduct with a 14-year-old boy pleaded guilty Monday in court and could face over 30 years in prison.
Fabio Cietto Dos Santos, 20, of Bagdad, was indicted on three counts of sexual conduct with a minor after a YCSO detective said he had sexual contact with the boy on three occasions in the spring, twice threatening him with a knife.
Dos Santos was suspected of being incompetent to assist in his own defense, however, after a court-ordered exam, he was found competent.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted sexual conduct with a minor and one count of sexual conduct with a minor.
Superior Court Judge Tina Ainley said he faced a maximum of 32 years in prison, but is eligible for probation as well, and a stipulation in the plea agreement specifies that she must sentence him to a term of lifetime sex offender probation if she chooses that option.
Don Santos' attorney, Harvel Golden, asked that he be released to the custody of his parents until sentencing, noting that he has no prior criminal history, but Ainley denied the request.
She will sentence him on Nov. 17.
