Chino Valley girls' cross country takes 3rd out of 10


Chino Valley girls snare 3rd at Crusaders Invite

The Cougars' girls grabbed third place out of 10 schools with 82 points in the Crusaders Invitational Wednesday at Victory Lane Sports Complex in Phoenix.

Valley Christian won with 63 points. Paradise Honors and Chino tied with 82 each, but Honors won the tiebreaker with a faster No. 6 runner.

Individually for the Chino Valley girls, Rosio Aguiar led her squad with a 12th-place time of 22:36. McKeisha Nez (13th, 22:51), Cheyanne Penton (14th, 23:12), Hannah Sanders (16th, 23:45), Becca Tupper (29th, 25:43), Christina Ballard (54th, 29:19) and Alaina Rowitsch (55th, 29:25) followed.

Meanwhile, the Cougars' boys finished fifth out of 10 teams with 125 points. Northwest Christian won with 32 points.

McKenzie Nez guided Chino with a third-place time of 17:15. Uriel Saldana (27th, 18:59), Daniel Shepherd (42nd, 20:24), Scott Blakley (44th, 20:26), Brenden Tupper (49th, 20:59), David Gehman (52nd, 21:36), Taylor Blakley (66th, 22:48) and Alex Daniels (82nd, 25:23) also crossed the finish line for the Cougars.
