Daryl Gingles Dulaney

Daryl Gingles Dulaney, 66, passed away peacefully on Sept. 28, 2014, at Rutledge Ranch Retreat in Paulden.

Daryl was born April 16, 1948, in Mayfield, Ky., the first born to Don and Betty Ruth Dulaney. In his first year, they moved to Bisbee, Ariz., and a year later to Prescott.

Daryl attended school at The Children's Colony in Coolidge, Ariz., and enjoyed camping and fishing trips with his family when he came home for holidays and school breaks. As a child he loved riding his bike and playing his music.

As a young adult, Daryl lived in a Hozhoni Foundation residential care home in Prescott and worked with Yavapai Exceptional Industries. Low vision did not stop him from walking across town on his day off to buy ice cream at his favorite Baskin-Robbins 31 Flavors.

Daryl moved to Chino Valley in the late 1980s to live with his mother, and later into Chino Lodge, a residential care home with Intermountain Centers for Human Development where he lived for nearly 20 years. He spent most of his first 10 years at Chino Lodge riding his bicycle, which was rigged with a basket to collect mail, trash, and aluminum cans, and a tall bright orange flag which made it easy for staff to spot him anywhere on the property. As an adult, he enjoyed going to dances, picnics, outings, and socializing with his many new and lifelong friends. In his later years, his weekly routine included spending time at The Center Adult Day Services. Daryl's special life touched countless others and he was loved by many.

He is survived by his brother Dennis Dulaney (Beverly Peterson Dulaney) and sister Debra Dulaney Ferris (Don); seven nieces and nephews, Lura, Cody, Austin, Zane, Maire, Annie and Elizabeth; two great-nieces, Isabelle and Lily, and a great-nephew, CJ.

Family would like to thank Intermountain Centers for Human Development and the caregivers at Rutledge Ranch Retreat for their love and care of Daryl. Donations in Daryl's memory can be sent to Intermountain Centers for Human Development, P.O. Box 3509, Chino Valley, AZ 86323.

A memorial service celebrating Daryl's life will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, on ICHD property at Chino Lodge, 2115 North U.S. Highway 89, in Chino Valley. (In the event of inclement weather, services will be relocated to Chino Valley Bible Church, 317 Marketplace Drive, Chino Valley).

Services entrusted to Hampton Funeral Home. Please visit www.hamptonfuneralhome.com to sign the guestbook.
