Obituary: Arlene Marie Drake
Arlene Marie Drake died Nov. 12, 2014, at her home in Prescott, Arizona. She was born May 14, 1932, in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of Gordon and Eunice (Johnson) Beauchamp. Arlene was 82 years old.
Arlene married the love of her life, Everett, exactly 65 years ago. She retired as a supervisor from Liberty Mutual and she and Everett moved to Prescott in 1992.
Arlene was an active and devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. She and Everett started their day with mass at the church. She was among the first to be a part of the funeral ministry and led this important group for many years. She served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Contemplative Prayer Group. She exemplified her faith in the last years of life as her body betrayed her.
Arlene enjoyed traveling, camping and cooking. She especially enjoyed the family get-togethers at the river. She was proudest of her family and her prayer groups.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Everett; her daughters Cheryl (Roger) Snowden and Janet (Dave) Wheeler, both of Prescott; son Don of Auburn, California; daughter-in-law Michelle (Rick) Drake of Roseville, California; three brothers; two sisters; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arlene was preceded in death by her son, Rick, Nov. 4, 2013.
A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury St. in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Funeral Ministry at Sacred Heart Church or The Cenacle Retreat Center, 513 Fullerton Parkway, Chicago, IL 60614.
