Man arrested after allegedly locking girlfriend in storage unit
PRESCOTT - A man who pushed his girlfriend into a storage unit and locked the door on Nov. 3 was arrested and charged with kidnapping, according to a police report.
Evan J. Anderson, 29, called 911 to report his 32-year-old girlfriend was suicidal, the report said, and he had pushed her into a storage unit in the 600 block of Brannen Avenue and locked it.
"Anderson was extremely animated and spoke in very disjointed, incoherent phrases," the report said.
Police told him to let the woman out, and when he did, she told police she was not suicidal. She had tried to get away from Anderson, she said, because he was falsely accusing her of infidelity.
Anderson had threatened her with a closed fist, the report said, which was backed up by a witness. After that, the report said, he pushed her in and locked the door.
Anderson told police he had been awake for over 36 hours and had taken Adderall.
He was arrested on the kidnapping charge, disorderly conduct per domestic violence and false reporting to law enforcement.
He told police he wanted to have the woman arrested so she couldn't leave him.
Anderson's urine tested positive for amphetamines and opiates, the report said.
He was booked into the Camp Verde jail on a $40,000 bond.
