Yavapai College will present its first opera, Engelbert Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel," at 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 and at 3 and 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 in the college's Performing Arts Center.
The production will feature witches big and small, gingerbread children and the oven that bakes them - all in the atmosphere of the German Black Forest.
The college's new dean, Craig Ralston, will accompany the opera on the piano. Others working on the production are resident opera professional Jayne Casselman; Tyler Talkington, who designed the set; Steven Ayres, who is in charge of lighting; and Tamra Pinson, who designed the costumes.
Tickets are $15, free for
children 14 and under, and
