Obituary: Mildred Elaine Rommel
Mildred "Millie" Rommel of Prescott Valley, Arizona, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 24, 2014.
Millie was born Nov. 16, 1924, in St. Peter, Minnesota, to Albert and Minnie (Redning) Lindquist. The third-oldest of 12 children, she left home at age 17. She moved to Washington State during WWII to help in the war effort. She worked in the shipyards. After the war, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she met George Rommel, the love of her life. She said that the first time she saw him he had a halo above his head. It was love at first sight.
Millie was a devoted wife and homemaker to her husband and a loving mother to their three boys. She enjoyed a wonderful marriage, lasting nearly 52 years. After raising their family in Southern California, they retired in Prescott Valley.
Millie and George truly enjoyed a fulfilling and satisfying retirement with many wonderful church friends and family.
Millie will be missed for her genuine concern for others. She was a wonderful counselor for her three boys, two grandsons, extended family members and friends.
Known for her optimistic attitude, she was willing and ready to go for a ride, lunch or an outing when invited. Millie's life has always revolved around her family, many good friends and church.
Millie was preceded in death by her loving husband George on May 28, 2004. She leaves behind three sons and their wives, Steve (Marion), Mike (Gloria) and David (Pandora); two grandsons, Jared and Jordan; eight brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to give special thanks to the Trinity Lutheran Church and pastor Tim Blau. They have always proved to be faithful friends that truly care about their members and community.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Prescott Valley.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3950 N. Valorie Drive, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.
