The goal of the HUSD SEI Program is to facilitate the education of an English Language Learner (ELL) whose native language is other than English and who is not yet academically proficient in English. All instruction in the program is in English and incorporates the four basic skill areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing and uses the Arizona Department of Education's ELL Task Force Models. HUSD has been recognized for high reclassification rates (students becoming proficient) and several awards including 2009 ELL teacher of the year, Susan Jimenez, and 2010 Exemplary Structured English Immersion Program.
Please contact ELL Coordinator, Jennifer Medina at 928-759-4047 for additional information regarding the ELL program.
Bright Futures Preschool serves 3-5-year-old children with or without developmental delays. Located on the Bradshaw Mountain High School West campus, BFPS's ADE certified teachers deliver pre-kindergarten curriculum with support from speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy and talented paraprofessionals.
The STAR Autism Program is a research-based ABA curriculum. Applied Behavioral Analysis is the theoretical core of the comprehensive program, which meets the needs of students who are at various developmental levels. Students with Autism receive a progression of lessons in six curriculum areas:
Play and social skills.
Another signature program that children at Bright Futures Preschool enjoy is our Motor Lab. Once each week, our Occupational and Physical Therapists provide ALL BFPS students with a series of exercises that include core strengthening, jumping, ball skills, balance activities, drawing, cutting and eye-hand-foot coordination.
