Louis George Toth Sr.

Louis George Toth Sr. passed away on May 14, 2014, at his home in Prescott, Ariz. Louis succumbed to cancer. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean, who passed away a month earlier on April 13, 2014. Louis is survived by all 10 of his children, Deborah Kay Toth-Breining (Al) of Cadillac, Mich., Barbara Ann Toth-Johnston (James) of Chesaning, Mich., Michael Louis Toth (Robin) of Prescott, Louis George Toth Jr. (Wendy) of Prescott, Cecelia Anne Toth-Harges (Richard) of Prescott, Linda Sue Toth-Mattus (Don) of Tucson, Patricia Helen Toth-Champagne (Gregory) of Palestine, Texas, Daniel Thomas Toth (Crista) of Prescott, Pamela Elizabeth Toth-Tyo (Wayne) of Irvine, Calif., and Thomas Neil Toth of Prescott.

Louis Sr. grew up in Flint, Mich., where he spent his childhood with his brother George and sisters MaryAnne and Ann. He was valedictorian of his senior class and went on to attend electronics school at DeVry University in Chicago. As a young adult, he owned a television and radio repair business. He later joined AC Spark Plug Division of General Motors as a metals analyst. Louis was diverse in his skills and knowledge from carpentry, electronics and gardening. He built and remodeled his family homes, as well as other homes throughout his life. He retired from General Motors and transplanted his family to Prescott in 1981. He was employed as the production manager for the local newspaper (Prescott Daily Courier) for several years. He was actively involved with Sacred Heart Catholic Church in his later years.

Louis and Betty were married for 59 years. They have 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Betty, he is preceded in death by his parents, George and Anne (Kocsis) Toth of Flint, Mich., and his son-in-law James Johnston.

A private memorial service and burial will take place with his family. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that memorial donations in his name be made to Hospice Family Care of Prescott, 109 E. Sheldon St., Suite 10 Prescott, AZ 86301.
