Art Gallery Listings: Week of May 16
Bronzesmith Fine Art Gallery and Foundry, 7331 E. 2nd St., Prescott Valley, 772-2378. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Foundry tours are available by appointment at 11 a.m. on Thursdays for $10 per person. The public is welcome to an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 23, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. Bronze pours will be at 10 a.m. and noon on Friday of the open house.
The Gallery at the Prescott Center for the Arts, 208 Marina St., 445-3286, www.pca-az.net. "Timeless Meditations: Mandalas and Patterns in Nature" opens runs until June 21.
Krieger-Marcusen Gallery, 110 S. Montezuma, Suite F, Hotel St. Michael's Alley, 778-4900. Clay, paintings, jewelry and wood by local artists Heath Krieger, Cathy Krieger and Richard Marcusen. New works by Steve Smith (wood) and plein air oil paintings by Bill Anton.
Mountain Artists Guild & Gallery, 228 N. Alarcon St., 776-4009. The main gallery feature is "Journey into Colors," works by Mountain Artists Guild members, which runs until June 28. In the Master's Gallery, "Bold, Bright and Beautiful," works by Betty Carr, David Harlan, Doug Miley, Dorothy Ray and Eric Slayton, runs until Sept. 15. The Spotlight Gallery features works by the Arizona Plein Air Group, which dedicates itself to recording the natural beauty of Sedona, national parks and Arizona landmarks.
Phippen Museum of Western Art, 4701 Highway 89 North, 778-1385, www.phippenartmuseum.org. "Architect as Art," focusing on the diversity of architecture in the West, is on exhibit through July 13.
Prescott Valley Art Guild, 3386 N. Windsong Drive, 775-4989. Good Samaritan Center, 3380 N. Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, is featuring the works of three master artists and founding members of the guild: Paulette Bedford, oils, acrylics; Marilyn Thompson, photography; and Del Arnold, acrylics, watercolor. Also in the show are Cathy Severson, watercolor, and Kay Demski, photography "with a twist." Refreshments will be served, and the public is welcome. The show will run through mid-July. The Prescott Valley Art Guild will be displaying art at Windsong Villas 3386 N. Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, through mid-July. The guild also will also be displaying art at the Prickly Pear Café, corner of Robert Road and Florentine Road, Prescott Valley, through mid-July.
'Tis Art Center and Gallery, 105 S. Cortez St., 775-0223, www.tisartgallery.com. In the mezzanine gallery, "Cheaper than Psychiatry, an exhibit of printmaking, mixed media, jewelry and "irreverence," by Deb Alberty, Brenda Diller and Susanne Straussner, will be on display until June 14. In the main floor gallery, "2014 Found Art Show: Artists Unearthing Objects Trouves," will be on exhibit until May 20
Van Gogh's Ear, 156 S. Montezuma St., 776-1080, www.vgegallery.com. "It's all in the Family - The McKeowns Share Their Art," by Deanne, Byron and Lesley, will be on display, beginning May 23 with the 4th Friday Art Walk. An opening reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Deanne's work is bronze sculpture, Byron handcrafts knives, letter openers, replica daggers and walking sticks from wood and metals. Lesley specializes in metal jewelry and gem and fossil jewelry.
Yavapai College Art Gallery, Building 17, 1100 E. Sheldon St., 776-2031. Alumni Photo Group members will have their work on display through June 21, with an opening reception planned for May 23 in conjunction with the 4thy Friday Art Walk. The work varies from moody black and white landscapes to vibrant to vibrant color portraits of humans and the natural world.
