Jack Frederick Ernest Goldsmith, born Nov. 6, 1930, passed away peacefully at the home of his son, Doug Goldsmith, surrounded by family. Jack was born in Carbondale, Ill. and was the son of Fred and Ruth Goldsmith.

After high school, Jack served in the Navy and then joined the Detroit Police Department, where he served for eleven years, followed by one year at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Jack settled permanently in Prescott in 1964, where he worked hard to provide for his family working at many different jobs over the years, most of those in the new car sales area. He owned and operated Arizona Auto Brokers for several years before starting a job with the Yavapai County Road Department. Jack was best known for his kindness, generosity and willingness to share his faith with everyone he met. Jack was very involved in his church, serving as a Deacon, chair of the van ministry and leader in the Adult Special Needs Ministry at his church. Jack also volunteered with the City of Prescott for 10 years as a COP (Citizen on Patrol).

Jack was predeceased by his wife Carolyn Sue (Johnson) Goldsmith; son Dennis Craig Goldsmith; parents, Fred and Ruth Goldsmith; and sister Jane Bell.

Jack is survived by his son David Wayne of West Virginia; his grandchildren, Rebecca Goldsmith, Rachel Bassett, Sarah Smith, and Jacob Goldsmith; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Dylan, Alexis, Chylynn, TJ, Lisa, Wyatt, Oak, Hayden, and Ashlynn.

Jack is also survived by his son Douglas Paul of Prescott; his wife Becky and their children, Dennis Goldsmith and Melanie Goldsmith; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Jack.

Jack is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

A memorial service celebrating Jack's life will be on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Willow Hills Baptist Church of Prescott, 1071 Mogollon Road at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the Willow Hills Baptist Church Adult Special Education Ministry or the Willow Hills Baptist Church van ministry.
