On June 20, Doug Keller, commander of American Legion Post 108, attended the meeting of Post 122, Cordes Lakes, at the new location in the Cordes Junction Motel Conference Building, 19780 Hitching Post Way. Jerry Schultz, the owner, has offered the building at no charge for the monthly meetings.
Ron Johnson, who was the commander at the start of the meeting, called it to order at 1 p.m. After the standard formalities were completed, Keller presided over the installation of officers, with the new commander being Doug Irvine. Jack Williamson is the new Adjutant and Sergeant at Arms, and Johnson became the new Chaplain. Chuck Leon remained the finance officer and Chuck Laurendeau remained the service officer; both were sworn in for the current year.
Johnson was presented a T-shirt stating "The greatest tragedy is to be forgotten," with the entire membership exclaiming that Ron would never be forgotten.
Johnson then formally handed over the gavel to Irvine.
Cake, coffee and iced tea were served by the wives after the meeting to celebrate the occasion.
