Current university students, all from Yavapai County, who are planning on future teaching careers each received $1,900 scholarships from the Education Scholarship Endowment-Yavapai County during the 14th annual awards luncheon recently. Recipients include, standing, left to right, Rachel Harold of Prescott; Rebecca Kepner of Prescott; Kayla Marston of Chino Valley; Christie Olney of Prescott; Katie Ringe of Chino Valley; Candy Shaft of Prescott; and Laura Ventura of Chino Valley. Seated, left to right, are Jessica Adkins of Prescott Valley; Alex Anderson of Dewey; Devon Adtrip of Cottonwood; and Claren Fraher of Prescott. The 11 students were selected from among dozens of applicants from throughout Yavapai County. Funds to support the scholarships are from a nonprofit philanthropic endowment founded by Prescott resident Gladys Gardner and administered by a volunteer board of directors. Since its founding, the foundation has distributed more than $200,000 in scholarships.
