PV man accused of throwing rocks at police
Prescott police arrested Prescott Valley resident Miles Crane, 38, Tuesday morning on three counts of aggravated assault against law enforcement officers and one count of disorderly conduct, after Crane allegedly threw two handfuls of rocks at police officers.
Police were called to the 100 block of East Sheldon Street just before 1 a.m. Tuesday morning to assist a Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputy as he dealt with an intoxicated male in the middle of the road.
According to Prescott Police Department Lt. Ken Morley, the suspect refused to obey commands. When officers approached him, Crane is alleged to have grabbed two handfuls of rocks and thrown them at police. The rocks struck two Prescott police officers and the YCSO deputy, Morley said, but no injuries were reported. Crane was eventually subdued and was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde.
According to Morley, two women were also questioned at the scene. One, who identified herself as Crane's girlfriend, said she had argued with Crane earlier and indicated Crane was very intoxicated. Because of the argument, the two women were in the process of leaving when the YCSO deputy arrived.
