Obituary: Helen Ilene (Tyler) May
Helen (Tyler) May, 93, of Chino Valley, Ariz., passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in Prescott. She was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Forrest (Jack) Tyler and Kathleen (Steinbeck) Tyler.
After graduating high school, Helen began a career in bookkeeping and worked until her marriage to Alfred May in 1946. She worked as a homemaker and spent her later years as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen loved to write and as a hobby wrote many poems and short stories. She also excelled in cake-decorating and candy-making.
Helen is survived by her son, Michael May of Montana, and daughter Kerry May Barney and son-in-law Terry Barney of Chino Valley. She has been blessed with seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Tyler and beloved husband Alfred May.
Visitation and viewing will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, with services to follow at 10 a.m. at the Del Rio Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 441 W. Perkinsville Road in Chino Valley. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
