The Dewey-Humboldt Historical Society opened a button design contest among local students for the Dewey-Humboldt annual Old West Day event, and announced Luke Poteat as the winner.

Luke, a student in Sandy Balsiger's art class this past year at Bradshaw Mountain Middle School, designed the winning button. Beginning in August, people can purchase the buttons at D-H businesses and the Museum, which allows wearer admission to Old West Day on Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Old West Days begins at 10 a.m. with a parade down Main Street to the Town Hall. At 11 a.m., owners put their pets on parade in front of the Dewey-Humboldt Historical Museum. Music entertainment is provided by Sidekicks and by Paula America's Yodeling Sweetheart.

The Boot Race has a 1 p.m. start time followed by the Beard

Contest at 1:30 and Western Attire Contest at 2 p.m. The Silent Auction closes the day at 3 p.m. Other participants and vendors throughout the day include Ermal Williamson as John Wayne, Boothill Express Company, Rough Riders, Arizona Rangers, GPAP Prospectors, blacksmith, weaving/spinning, and 4-H participants.
