The Rev. Wesley C. Harris, 58, died peacefully in his home in Prescott Valley, Ariz., on July 4, 2014. His best friend, Kevin O'Connor, said it beautifully: "He experienced True Freedom on the 4th of July."
He is survived by his wife, Connie; his mother, Shirley Musick of Washington; sister JerriLynn Musick Lawson (husband Dan) of Texas; brother Frank Harris of Washington; two sons, Richard Harris of New Hampshire and Jerry Harris of Washington; his stepdaughter, Chelsey Stanko of Arizona; his grandchildren, Josiah, Willow, Nathanial and Blake; mother- and father-in-law Shelby and Wayne Bearden; close family friend Mark Youngblood; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Franklin Harris, and his stepfather, Gerald "Jerry" Musick.
Wes was an ordained minister and had a master's in social work. He had a heart for people, and had a way of endearing himself with his funny, gentle, loving manner.
A Celebration of Wes' life will take place in Walla Walla, Wash., on what would have been his 59th birthday, July 24, 2014.
