Duane O. Holliman

Duane O. Holliman, 81, passed in the company of loved ones on July 1, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society Marley House, after a battle with skin cancer.

He grew up in Riverton, Iowa, the fourth of five children. Duane majored in Engineering at Tarkio College, Missouri, before enlisting in the Army. Upon completion of his service, he continued his adventures working on a Mississippi riverboat then touring Europe until finally settling in Arizona and falling in love with his beautiful wife of 52 years, Anita.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents David and Daphne Holliman; and sisters Nadine, Meta and Vida.

Duane never knew a stranger and will be remembered with love as the best husband, father, Papa, friend and conversationalist by all. Those who knew him appreciated his unconditional zest for life; his commitment to God, family and work; and his unique ability to "kick it in neutral." A truck driver by career, Duane loved to drive and talk to people, which is what made him one of Prescott's favorite UPS drivers for over 25 years. He learned to snow ski at age 50, stating that life was "all downhill from here" and sped downhill as often as possible until well past retirement.

Duane is survived by his wife Anita; younger brother Lynn; daughters, Sylvia (Rex Ross) and Kim (Neal Sullivan III); grandchildren Charlyn, Max, Neal IV, Jace and Siobhan; and mother-in-law, Bea; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Duane will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at the Adult Center of Prescott. The service is open to the public; please contact any family member for additional details.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donating to the Good Samaritan Society Marley House or Yavapai Humane Society in memory of Duane Holliman.
