Susannah Martin returns to the Highlands Center for Natural History on Saturday, July 12, for a "Howlin' at the Highands" suimmer concert.
The concert, sponsored by the Prescott Jazz Summit, will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Mike Vax and the Jazz Summit All-Stars Band will accompany Martin to enhance the evening of jazz music.
Martin is a favorite vocalist of Highlands audiences since arriving on the Northern Arizona music scene in 2005 She has sung with big bands, jazz combos, Latin jazz ensembles, and a capella vocal groups, as well as Motown, classic rock, Top 40 and rhythm and blues bands.
Reviewers have described Martin's voice as fluid and sultry, colored with jazz and rjythem and bues and, and an added spicy international flair ignited by her multi-lingual singing in Latin styles. She is also known for her ability to improvise and to scat-sing.
Martin's ormal voice and musical training started at the age of 10 at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts.. At the Willamette University in Oregon, she studied classical voice, jazz and music therapy.
During her long career, jazz has always been her favorite form of musical expression.
