Need2Know: Tara Thai, Marino's build up 'Restaurant Row'

With apologies to good ol' Whiskey Row, there seems to be a "Restaurant Row" forming on the other side of the courthouse plaza.

Whiskey Row bars have been quenching thirsts over on the 100 block of South Montezuma practically as long as Prescott has been around. But man cannot live on drink alone, the Boykans have noticed.

On the east side of the plaza, soon to join the increasingly popular Bill's Pizza are: Tara Thai and Marino's Mob Burger. (As we say in journalism, "Three's a trend...")

The Thai place should be first, with Matt and Joy Boykan hoping to be done with renovation "mid- to late-July." The Boykans currently have a Tara Thai in Prescott Valley.

No opening date yet for the burger place, to be located in the old Kendall's Famous Burgers - between Tara Thai and Bill's Pizza.

EMPLOYEE TURNED OWNER

BIG 5

High fives to the new Big 5 Sporting Goods, up and running next to Goodwill on Iron Springs Road.

Good timing for the late-June opening, as the rodeo dances in the shopping center parking lot started just a few nights later. Big 5 might not sell dancing shoes, but it's certainly enjoying the free publicity with hundreds of dancers outside its doors.

Big 5 is at 1365 Iron Springs Road, Suite 1. Call them at 928-445-0535. Regular hours are: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sundays, 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
