William Roger Lakner

William Roger Lakner, 78, died peacefully at home on Jan. 10, 2014. Roger was born on Nov. 17, 1935, in Los Angeles, Calif.

After high school graduation and some college, he joined the Navy. Roger worked most of his life for United Airlines in aircraft maintenance.

In 2004, Roger retired from Redwood City, Calif., to Prescott, Ariz., where he met and married his loving wife, Mary Beth (Peterson) Lakner, who survives him. He is also survived by his sons William Roger Lakner Jr., Frederick James (Elena Vassilev) Lakner; and grandchildren Sofia and Valentin; and his son Morgan Adel (Donna) Lakner; his two step-children Tim (Julie) Damgaard and Beth (Steve) Daniel; and his two step-granddaughters, Jamie and Jessica Daniel; his only sibling, his brother John (Mary) Lakner; two nephews, Scott and Mike;

and one niece, Peggy. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, William Lakner and Ethel (Long) Lakner.

Roger had many interests and cared about his community. He enjoyed serving the Prescott Lakes community on various committees and as an alternate voting member; he created websites for local nonprofits; he served as president of the Prescott Mac computer group (PMUG), he loved photography, birdwatching in our yard, growing wildflowers and working in the yard, listening to music (especially jazz and blues), traveling, and watching movies.
