Join Phippen Master Docent Marsha Painton at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, as she discusses "From Canvas to Curtis: Native American Portraits," the works of three early American artists who celebrated Native American cultures. Photographer Edward Curtis and painters Charles Bird King and George Catlin all created images of Native Americans that stand as time capsules, allowing us to see these historic cultures as they existed. These seminal works continue to influence the way artists portray traditional Native American cultures today.
