The Gallery at the Prescott Center for the Arts, 208 Marina St., 445-3286, The exhibit "Primary Colors" lets viewers experience the significance of color in art in works using the hues of red, yellow, blue, black and white in the creative process. The opening reception for Primary Colors will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 10 and from 5 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 during the Fourth Friday Art Walk. The gallery's gift shop has all new items for the new year.

Mountain Artists Guild & Gallery, 228 N. Alarcon St., 776-4009. The new show in the Main Gallery, "Fresh Impressions," runs through March 1. The Spotlight Room exhibit, "Instructors' Workshop Wonders," showing off the upcoming 2014 instructors' work and what attendees can expect from them, runs through Feb. 13. A reception for both exhibits will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 24.

Phippen Museum of Western Art, 4701 Highway 89 North, 778-1385, National Parks of the West, featuring artwork focused specifically on the nation's parks and landscapes from the Grand Canyon and Rocky Mountains to the Glacier Parks, runs through Feb. 23.

Prescott College Art Gallery at Sam Hill Warehouse, 232 N. Granite St., 350-2341. "Brothers Forever: A Promise Fulfilled," featuring the photography and sculptured wood furniture of Steve Smith and mosaics and paintings of his late brother, Glenn, will be on display until Feb. 8. An opening reception willl take place from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight. Steve Smith will give an artist's talk at 6 p.m. on Jan. 24 in conjunction with the 4th Friday Art Walk. The gallery will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. during the art walk.

Prescott Valley Art Guild, 3386 N. Windsong Drive, 775-4989. The guild's exhibit at the Good Samaritan Center, 3380 N. Windsong Drive, features artists Karel Armstrong, Harry DeKeukelaere, Tommie Parcell and Shari Hancock, who will display works in oil, watercolor, acrylic and Japanese brush painting. The show will run through mid-April. An opening reception will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Good Samaritan Center. Refreshments will be available and the public is welcome. The guild will also be displaying art from Jan. 17 through mid-April at Windsong Villas, 3386 N. Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, and at the Prickly Pear Café, corner of Robert and Florentine roads, Prescott Valley from Jan. 18 through mid-April. The Raven Café, 142 N. Cortez St., 717-0009. "Creative Mix," a mixed-media exhibit featuring the works of Deb Alberty, Donna Carver, Brenda Diller, Helaine Hart, Maria Lynam, Autumn Summerfield, Annette Olson and Mary Lou Wills, will be on display until Jan. 12.

The Smoki Museum of American Indian Art and Culture, 147 N. Arizona Ave., 445-1230. "The Last of the Great Expeditions: The Summer of '34," a look at the Rainbow Bridge to Monument Valley expedition of 1934 is on exhibit.

'Tis Art Center and Gallery, 105 S. Cortez St., 775-0223, In the mezzanine gallery, "2014 STEPS Children's Art Show," showcasing the work of students from the 2013 'Tis STEPS program, will be on exhibit until Jan. 13. In the main floor gallery, "Winter Photography Show" will be on display until Jan. 21.

Yavapai College Art Gallery, Building 17, 1100 E. Sheldon St., 776-2031. The works of woodworker Judd Lotts and fiber artist Jennifer Sargent will be on exhibit from Jan. 8 until Feb. 8, with a reception planned from 5 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 in conjunction with the 4th Friday Art Walk.
