Obituary: Edgar William Raess
Edgar William Raess, 89, greatly loved by all who knew him and now greatly missed, passed away Jan. 31, 2014, peacefully at his Alta Vista residence, surrounded by loving caregivers who came to love him dearly.
He was born in Antigo, Wis., on Feb. 25, 1924, and served in World War II as part of the Army Air Corps in France. After the war, he met his (soon-to-be) wife, Vivian Belle Hertel, and built a home in Milwaukee, Wis., and raised their family.
He served an apprenticeship in Milwaukee as a cabinetmaker, carpenter and millwright, and provided for his family as a gifted craftsman.
He is survived by son Robert and Pam Raess; granddaughters Jessica (Andy) Rogers and Angie Raess; and great-grandchildren Ashley and Linsey Brown.
There will be a memorial at Alta Vista, 916 Canterbury Lane, across from Sonic on Whipple Street, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, in the theater room.
