Peggy Green De Fazio, 86, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away peacefully Jan. 26, 2014.

She was born May 8, 1927, in Swan Lake, Miss., named Susie Adeline - "just call me Peggy" - to D.W. Green and Susie E. Green (Wells).

She is survived by brothers Thomas Stone of Virginia, Richard Green (Mary) of California and Lenard Green of California; sisters Lucy Mobley of California and Brenda Sebastian (Mike) of Indiana; children Mickey De Fazio (Karen) of California, Penny Pauletto (David) of Arizona, Leo De Fazio (Veda) of Nevada and Pati De Fazio of California; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother David Green, sister Frances Sheets and husband Lt. Col. Ernest L. De Fazio.

Peggy was strong in her Catholic faith, loyal to her beliefs. She laughed easily, loved sincerely and danced. She held a degree in finance and a degree in business, worked as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios, and was voted Miss Arthur Murray of Memphis, Tenn. Peggy was an editor of newspapers in San Diego, assistant chief of finance for Camp Pendleton, and a cashier for Walmart. She enjoyed volunteer work with Fr. Bennos' Feed the Homeless in Oceanside, Calif., and her most precious St. Vincent De Paul's in Prescott. Peggy's loyalty, support and honor to the Marine Corps was always faithful, Semper Fi. Most of all she was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly.

She had a life well-lived. A Rosary will be at Hampton Funeral Home at 6 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 6, 2014, and Celebration of Life Mass at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Bennos of Oceanside, Calif., or St. Vincent de Paul of Prescott, Ariz.
