Santa makes an early visit to Cordes Lakes

It was a beautiful night with weather giving full cooperation as the parade lined up in Cordes Lakes. The Yavapai Sheriff's Office VIPs led the parade, with Mayer Fire Department bring up the rear - they had both a fire engine and a rescue vehicle this year. Pride Bonds took first place with his ATV which had Santa's sleigh following behind. The lighted deer on top of Scott Auckter's ATV brought in second place. The others definitely earned honorable mention, especially the United Teens, whose lights flickered on and off.

The streets were lined with spectators as the parade went by, then they all hurried to the community center for the Cookies with Santa event. The craft tables were full, ornaments were made and lists were filled out to hand to Santa. The line to see Santa was through the building and out the door. The hot chocolate jug was emptied several times and tray after tray of cookies kept coming from the kitchen. Children were given a gift bag from Santa, and then went to the gift table to choose a toy.
