Wilhoit man charged with burglary of store
WILHOIT - Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Thursday and charged him with burglarizing the Country Corner store on Highway 89 in Wilhoit, a YCSO spokesman said.
Wesley Cron, 20, is accused of breaking out glass in the front door of the business, and then stealing beer, while the store was closed in the early morning hours of Dec. 4, YCSO spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said.
Deputies took a look at the store's surveillance video and "developed information" that pointed to Cron as the suspect, D'Evelyn said, and the clothes he wore in the video were identified by a witness as belonging to Cron.
Cron was located and taken into custody during a traffic stop at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, D'Evelyn said, noting that Cron had a warrant for his arrest out of Prescott.
While he at first denied any involvement in the burglary, D'Evelyn said, he "eventually admitted to the burglary" in an interview with a detective.
Cron was booked on charges of burglary, theft, and two counts of defacing property.
He's being held in the Camp Verde jail on a $7,570 bond.
