John P. Lally

The happiness of his daughters was John P. Lally's highest priority, until his dying day, July 24, 2014, when he passed away in his home, with family, at age 79, after a life filled with adventure, enjoyment and memories.

A resident of Prescott Valley, Ariz., for 14 years, John was born in Cleveland, Ohio. As an avid bicyclist, John rode his bike every day, exploring the trails of Arizona. He also traveled with Elderhostel groups, biking an average of 30 miles per day. John will be remembered as a wise and peaceful man who enjoyed "taking the scenic route of life." He was a patron of the arts and of learning. He loved to read with a personal library of over 300 books. John enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada and visited Ireland and Europe several times. He was also a volunteer member of the Willow Lake Trail Construction Team.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Winifred (Spence); and younger brothers, Bobby and Charlie. In addition to his two daughters, Kathleen and Anyez; John will be missed by stepdaughter Marcia (Chalkwater); sister Patricia (Bystrom); brother Bill; many step-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; and many friends and neighbors.

John was well-liked by all.

A celebration of his life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Chambers Funeral Home, 29150 Lorain Road in North Olmsted, Ohio. A funeral mass will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at St. Brendan Church in North Olmsted, with a reception immediately following at Arturo's Restaurant, 26679 Brookpark Road Extension in North Olmsted, Ohio.
