John Salazar Brambila

John Salazar Brambila, 92, of Chino Valley, Ariz., born Oct. 31, 1921, in Prescott, Ariz., passed away at his home in Chino Valley on Aug. 5, 2014.

John was a lifelong resident of Prescott and had move to Chino Valley eight years ago.

John was a WWII United States Army veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and was a member of the 3119 Signal Service Battalion in Japan. John worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for a short time and for 26 years at the Iron King Mine in Humboldt, Ariz. Upon the closing of the Iron King, he worked for the City of Prescott until his retirement. A talented artist, his art studies were cut short by severe migraine headaches.

Always wanting to create, he also enjoyed woodworking, making furniture for his family and remodeling his home in Prescott.

John was preceded in death by his mother Reyes; father Juan; sister Erma; brother Don; and daughter Patricia.

John is survived by Josephine, his loving wife of 75 years; two sons, Fred (Edna) and Phillip; and two daughters, Martha Martinez (Alex) and Helen Depew (George).

John was also blessed with seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

John was a faithful and dedicated husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz. There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at the Westside Christian Church, 5860 N. Williamson Valley Road, Prescott, Ariz. Burial with military honors to follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, 1051 Willow Creek Road, Prescott.
