60th Anniversary: Gene and Elin Boughner
On Labor Day weekend 2013, family and friends gathered together to celebrate the 60th wedding anniversary of Gene and Elin Boughner.
After Gene's combat tour, they met and married in 1953 while stationed at Scott Airfield, Ill., where they both served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
In July of 1960, Gene and Elin moved their family from Churchville, N.Y., to Phoenix, Ariz., where they resided until moving in 1982 to Prescott, where they built their home.
Gene is a retired Phoenix police sergeant and worked with Yavapai County as a bailiff until his retirement in 1995. Elin worked locally for The Boston Store and Ted Rose's Greenery and is the keeper of the home flame, providing support to her husband and four children. They continue to be active in the community, supporting the American Legion in Chino Valley and the Williamson Valley Fire Department, and participating in many charitable opportunities.
The Boughners have four children: Robin Rice, Tom Boughner, Jerry Boughner and Jim Boughner; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
They will continue their anniversary celebration with a trip to Costa Rica.
