Janet Elaine Evans Rau

Janet Elaine Evans Rau died at the age of 74 on Sept. 3, 2013. She was born to Bill and Billie Evans in Omaha, Neb.

She was married to her high school sweetheart Richard (Dick) Rau and supported him in his career with the Navy, living in Nebraska, Kansas, New Jersey, Massachusetts and California. Retirement took them to Corpus Christi, Texas, and, after Dick's passing, she moved to Prescott, Ariz. to be close to her daughter, Connie.

Janet loved Jesus and found a church home in every city that she lived. Most recently, she attended Willow Hills Baptist Church in Prescott.

As she raised her family, she served as the girls' Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher, and hosted Young Life Campaigner bible study, providing them breakfast at each of their weekly meetings. She created a home environment that was welcoming to anyone who came into her life. She retired from the Alameda Unified School District, serving as secretary in various departments.

Janet is survived by her daughters Kathy (Steve) Davis of Mansfield, Texas, Connie (Randy) Buckner of Prescott, and Karen (Ken) Pries of San Ramon, Calif. She had eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Patti Sortino of Fort Collins, Colo., Fran Hammock of Union, Wash., Jack Evans of Omaha, Neb., and Linda Bratka of Omaha.

A memorial service for Janet will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Oct. 12, 2013, at Kingway Church, 1106 S. 139th St., Omaha.

Janet's family is grateful to the staff of Las Fuentes Assisted Living, Las Fuentes Care Center and the Margaret T. Morris center for the compassionate and loving care they provided to her these past few years.
