Prescott Council OKs plat for first phase of Granite Dells Estates
PRESCOTT - A plan for 208 home lots and two commercial lots in the northwest corner of the Granite Dells Estates subdivision got the OK from the Prescott City Council this week.
In a 6-0 vote on Tuesday, the council approved a preliminary plat that covers about 133 acres of the subdivision, which is located south of the Granite Dells Parkway and Highway 89A interchange.
In addition, the council agreed to rezone three acres from business-general to single-family-6 zoning.
The matter generated little discussion from the council and no comments from the public.
This week's actions came after the council's approval this past summer of an amendment to the project's original master plan and a rezoning to develop additional single-family and multi-family uses.
The master plan amendment included an overall increase in homes from 710 to 1,310, and eliminated the majority of the proposed industrial uses.
At that time, the council did not allocate the additional water to support the increase in homes. Rather, a city memo stated, the additional water would be considered as the owner develops subsequent phases of the larger project.
Overall, the Granite Dells Estates project includes 1,142 acres.
Councilman Charlie Arnold declared a conflict of interest on the matter and did not participate in the vote.
