YAVAPAI BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS: Child of the week

There are currently 224 children waiting to me matched with a "Big" in Yavapai County. Here is the story of one of those kids.

Meet Brianna. She is a smart and funny 10 year old who lives in Chino Valley with her mother, brother and grandparents. Brianna's mother is disabled, and she does not have contact with her biological father. Her mother would love for a Big Sister to take her out and do fun things that she is unable to do due to her disability.

Brianna gets prizes for getting good grades in school and says she would like to learn more about math and writing. She likes to cook, sing and draw mustaches, and would like to play soccer. Brianna has goals to finish college and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. She also aspires to have two kids and a nice house with a square table and four chairs.

Brianna really wants a Big Sister and would like to do fun things with her like skiing, skateboarding, flying kites, swimming, hiking, camping, fishing, horseback riding, star-gazing, going to the movies, arts and crafts, and much more.

You don't have to change your life to change the life of a child like Brianna. Just a few hours a couple of times a month is enough to make a difference as a Big Brother or Big Sister. You can also be a Big as a Couple Match or with your whole family as a Family Match. Research shows that kids matched with a "Big" are, on average, 40 percent less likely to get arrested, compared to all other kids their age.
