PRESCOTT VALLEY - A collision between a car and a Humboldt Unified School District bus Thursday morning injured three people, a police spokesman said.

The crash happened at about 8:15 a.m. on Spouse Drive at Lone Cactus. A small SUV driven by Clifford Deane, 58, of Prescott Valley failed to stop at the sign on Lone Cactus and struck the bus in the side as it passed through the intersection, said Sgt. Brandon Bonney.

Deane was injured and was taken to YRMC West by ambulance.

Two of the children on the bus, a 6-year-old male and an 11-year-old female, were taken to YRMC East, but, Bonney said, the injuries appeared to be minor and the ambulance transport "may have been precautionary."

Bonney said there were 44 children on the bus as it headed to Granville Elementary. The remaining children were placed on another bus and taken to the school.

Deane's injuries are unknown, he said, but are not believed to be life-threatening.

Deane was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. Bonney said impairment is not suspected.
