County Supervisors may restore assistant administrator position to full-time status

PRESCOTT - Yavapai County Supervisors will consider returning the existing part-time, temporary Assistant County Administrator position back into a full-time, permanent position during Monday's meeting.

Current Assistant County Administrator Dave Hunt is classified as a part-time temporary employee. With Hunt retiring at the end of the year, County Administrator Phil Bourdon is looking to replace him with a full-time permanent assistant administrator.

"(The position change) doesn't change the number of bodies working here at the office; it just changes it from a temporary hourly position to a full-time permanent position," Bourdon said. "Which it used to be in the past."

The county is looking to fill the position by Jan. 5, 2014, according to the staff report.

"The Assistant County Administrator position is a key position within the Board Office, providing work of considerable difficulty for the Board of Supervisors and County Administrator," read the Hiring Exception Request form.

According to the staff report, changing the position from part-time temporary to full-time permanent will cost the county more than $75,000 in salary and benefits for fiscal year 2013/14. For fiscal year 2014/15, salary and benefit costs increase to about $150,000.

Also on the agenda:

• Presentation of Service Award to presiding Superior Court Judge David Mackey.

• Approval to name records management research center the Patsy C. Jenney Colon research room.

•Consideration of an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Prescott and the county for realignment work along Willow Creek Road.

• Approval of Federal Land Access Program projects for Red Rock Loop Road paving, Thumb Butte Road paving and Lynx Creek Bridge replacement.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Yavapai County Administration Services Building at 1015 Fair Street.
