All seats were taken at the Cordes Lakes ladies "Welcome to the Tropics" themed luncheon on May 11. With lanterns overhead, hula skirts decorating the walls and some very impressive palm trees, the mood was set to relax on the beach.
The Lonesome Valley Wranglers 4-H Club did an excellent job of serving and busing the tables. The plates were filled with generous portions and no one could say they were hungry afterward. Topping it off was rainbow sherbet, which was a perfect dessert for the meal.
Entertainment followed with Pat Williamson helping Sharon Williams don a skirt and coconut bra top to dance the Hukilau. But Sharon is a smaller person, and the wardrobe malfunctions continued throughout her performance, which brought down the house. This was followed by Pat Williamson performing a more sedate traditional hula.
Smart Girls of Prescott Valley provided the clothes for the fashion show, with local residents Robbe Bressler, Ardis Jones, Flo Lottes, Joni Rogers, Mary Seppala and Judy Slankard doing the modeling of several different outfits. All ensembles were moderately priced and were shown to perfection with matching accessories.
Annie Wales did a great job of coordinating the event and everyone thoroughly enjoyed a ladies-only day out.
