Overnight bridge work on Interstate 17 at Cordes Junction next week
Final preparations are ongoing and will continue next week on the Cordes Junction traffic interchange that will require alternating lane restrictions on Interstate 17 and State Route 69 so crews can finalize remaining bridge work, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Drivers should expect the following overnight restrictions:
Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24:
I-17 narrowed to one lane in each direction between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to allow crews to complete bridge work.
SR 69 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction approaching the traffic interchange, which includes the southbound on-ramp from SR 69 onto I-17 and the northbound flyover bridge from I-17 onto SR 69.
Shoulder closures on SR 69 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. approaching Cordes Junction in both directions (mileposts 262-263) for bridge painting.
Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21 and 22:
Cordes Lakes bridge will be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. and drivers will be directed to use the new traffic interchange at Arcosanti to access I-17.
Drivers are encouraged to adjust their travel schedules in order to avoid the closures during those hours or allow extra travel time to reach their destination. The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage.
