Prescott Valley Parks & Rec preparing for Splash pool opening Memorial Day weekend

Warm temperatures have been teasing Prescott Valley folks off and on of late, but soon will take up residence for the summer. Mountain Valley Splash pool will be ready to cool off everyone, starting with open swim on Saturday, May 25.

Public open swim is offered Monday through Saturday from 1-4:30 p.m.

Daily entry fees are: 75 cents/child 5 & under; $1.75/youth 6-17; $2.75/adult 18-54; $2/senior 55+; $9.50/family of 5 and fewer. Pool passes valid through Aug. 3 range from $22.50-$150.

To safely prepare youngsters for water activities, the pool offers swim lessons Monday through Thursday, beginning May 27. Registration for the first session is Saturday, May 18. Cost is $25/session.

Swim Sessions: Session 1: May 27 - June 6; Session 2: Jun 10-20; Session 3: June 24 -July 4; Session 4: July 8-18; Session 5: July 22 - Aug. 1.

Private lessons also are available.

In addition to public open swim, the Splash offers reserved times for lap swim, low impact aqua aerobics, aqua aerobics, therapy swim, family nights, parent-tot time, and private pool rentals.

Private rentals are Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and cost $65/hour with a $100 refundable deposit.

The recreation swim team AquaBears, is for youth who want to swim on a competitive level. To try out, a swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards of one of the four competitive strokes: freestyle (crawl), breaststroke, butterfly, or backstroke.

Meets take place on Saturdays and practices are from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Monday through Friday. Cost is $60/swimmer and $50 per additional sibling. Session I is May 27 - June 28, deadline May 23. Session II is July 1 - Aug. 2, deadline June 27.
