PV council to review bingo license request

PRESCOTT VALLEY - The Town Council will decide Thursday whether to back a new Class A bingo license for the Villages at Lynx Creek at 12200 E. Highway 69.

Management at the Villages requested permission from the town to apply for a new and additional Class A bingo license. The Villages currently sponsors bingo games beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at its social hall.

The Class A license is designed for people who wish to play bingo primarily for recreation, according to a staff report to the council from the Town Clerk's office. The licensee is restricted to gross sales of $15,600 per year, which represents an average of $300 per week. The maximum payout per occasion is $299.

The authority for issuing the license rests with the Arizona Department of Revenue. The Village is seeking a recommendation of support from the council.

The council will conduct a public hearing, and then vote on the request.

The council meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and takes place in the library auditorium, 7401 E. Civic Circle.

Also on the agenda are:

• A report on the Healing Field, which takes place on Sept. 11, from Councilwoman Mary Mallory.

• A presentation on Student of the Month Cassie Norman.

• Appointment of John Yeater to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a term expiring Oct. 31.

• Approval of the official results of the March 12 all-mail election for Town Council and two ballot measures.
