"The Children of Eden" by Stephen Schwartz, the composer of "Godspell" and "Wicked," will be presented tonight and Saturday afternoon at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center.
Tonight's show begins at 7 p.m., and the Saturday matinee is at 2 p.m. All tickets are $15 and are on sale at www.ycpac.com or by calling the box office at 776-2000.
This is the first musical produced by the YC Music Department, said Christopher Eubank, director of the college's choral activities and the performing and visual arts division.
The show includes students, children and community members. In his research about the production, Eubank found that Schwartz had said, "I have always viewed that show as metaphorical and really dealing with issues of family relationships and personal responsibility, not the Bible, and although 'Children of Eden' takes place in biblical times and with biblical characters, the focus is more on family relationships than religious content."
