Obituary: Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Berger (Willis)
Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Berger (Willis), 83, died at her Prescott, Ariz., home on March 15, 2013. She was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Baker, Mont., to Clair Keith Willis and Elizabeth Sigrid (Peterson) Willis. Betty lived in Rhame, N.D., until 5 1/2 years old, when her family moved to Vasa, Minn., where she grew up on a farm. Betty graduated from high school in Red Wing, Minn., in 1947. She graduated in 1969 from Dickinson North Dakota State College with a Degree in Nursing. After moving to Prescott in 1990, she worked at the Pioneers Home for two years. There her idea for a business started.
In 1992, Betty started her dream job, becoming the Prescott area's "Foot Angel." Her business was going into people's homes and loving caring for their feet and nails. The business grew so much that when she retired April 2012, there were three more "Foot Angels" to carry on the business.
Betty was an active member of AA, very involved and loved by her home group, the Sunday a.m. women's group at Safe Harbor. Her warm hand and smile was always there to greet the newcomer, letting them know how special they were. Her enthusiasm and love for living a sober life has touched many and will be missed by the AA recovery community. She also enjoyed Wednesday night Rarely group and the summer Roundups.
Betty is survived by daughters Linda Sherman, Nora Nadeau (Larry) and Keli Kelly; grandchildren Ben Sherman (Leesa), Rachel Merrifield (Chad), Alesha Sacco (Dan), Naomi Nadeau, Jennie Schuler (Aaron), Erin Dickson (Paul), Joshua Christensen, David Christensen, Lisa Christensen, Douglas Yancy and Katie Yancy; great-grandchildren Allison Sherman, Matthias Ficke, Gwenevere Schuler, Brett Christensen, Nathan Sherman, Tilly Rose Schuler and Astrid Dickson; siblings Clareen Barrett (John), Rosalie Diercks, Clair Willis (Marleen) and Karen Rapp (Ray); cousins Mae Ione Hande, Gene Jensen, Elroy Peterson, Freddie Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Clair Keith Willis and Elizabeth Willis Fanning, and stepfather Francis Fanning; sister Margie Penfield; and grandson Lars Nadeau.
