Serve Yavapai of Prescott College and the Yavapai County AmeriCorps Project of Community Counts will join the nationwide celebration of AmeriCorps Week, March 10-16. The week is a unique opportunity to spotlight the vital work done by AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA members in communities across the county since the national service program began 18 years ago.
Festivities begin on March 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers will work with the Girl Scouts of America to learn about water conservation, rain gardens and prevent further erosion of select places within the Willow Spring Program Center. Activities include building a water catchment system, digging in the dirt and planting native grass and trees!
In Prescott Valley, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., AmeriCorps and VISTA members will volunteer with Bright Futures Preschool. Activities include painting and maintenance work.
